So.., I’m finishing up my workout today and in the shower.  I mention to the guy next to me that the water pressure is really low today; and without blinking an eye, he sez – “Yea but at least its warm!�            

          I smiled inside because it struck me as something I would normally say in response to a perceived negative comment.  I am what you might call an eternal optimist and even more so now as a follower of Jesus.  I mean really…., how can one not be?

           I don’t know about you, but it just gets very old hearing the same old complaints, about the same old stuff; from the same old people – it just happens to be a different day or week.  Don’t get me wrong.., I know that occasionally there are times to question, grieve, and search with a sprinkle of doubt; but.., to be constantly griping and whining about stuff that quite frankly is not worth whining and griping about…..

           This I especially do not understand from followers of Christ.  How can one who has the Spirit of the Living God residing in her or him be constantly unhappy?  It does not make sense to me.  Well…, actually, it makes earthly sense to me – but from a spiritual perspective I personally believe this should not be.  Constantly griping; constantly doubting; constantly picking apart; is this or could this be constant sinning?

          Could you imagine how much different the Sermon on the Mount would have been if Jesus would have just given us all the negative aspects and not the hope; or how much different life would be if he said “yea I rose from the dead; but I’m not sure why I did – I mean those people don’t believe anyway – so.., what’s the use?
